Dr. Bellows was born in upstate New York and had a somewhat nomadic childhood, moving frequently throughout the Northeast. He attended the University at Buffalo for both undergraduate studies and medical school before moving on to the District of Columbia. He completed both an internship in Internal Medicine as well as residency in Emergency Medicine at the George Washington University, where he served as chief resident in his final year. Dr. Bellows then took a faculty position as an assistant professor of emergency medicine at Georgetown University School of Medicine and worked clinically at Washington Hospital Center, The District’s largest trauma center. After nearly forty years living in Eastern Standard Time, Dr. Bellows finally saw the light and moved west to Colorado, joining Exempla Healthcare and Ergentus in 2011. His professional interests centers on education and he coordinates continuing medical education for Ergentus. He also maintains an academic position at the University of Colorado School of Medicine.
He enjoys playing with his son, Ike, and he and his wife, also an emergency medicine physician, recently became parents for a second time. When not at work Dr. Bellows can be found hiking or biking the Front Range, roasting coffee, or cheering on the New York Mets from afar.
